Google’s new AI feature lets you virtually try on clothes
Google has officially debuted a personalized virtual try-on feature, letting U.S. shoppers visualize how clothes would look on their own body. The update applies across Google Search, Google Shopping, and even results in Google Images.
With just a full-body photo and a tap of the “try it on” button in a product listing, users can instantly generate a preview of how an outfit might appear on them. The tool lets shoppers save and share images of their virtual outfits.
Previously, Google’s virtual try-on showcased clothing on various model types. The new update takes a more direct approach by simulating items on the actual user’s physique, aiming to make the online shopping experience more accurate and personal.
The company is also enhancing its Shopping Graph with price alerts and unveiling an upcoming feature later this year that will allow users to browse generative AI-created looks for outfits and home decor. In parallel, Google’s Doppl app pushes the experience even further with dynamic video renderings of clothes on AI-generated avatars.
