Google doubles down on ‘AI phones’ with its Pixel 10 series
Google’s Pixel 10 series is here, showcasing the company’s latest AI advancements ahead of Apple’s iPhone 17. The devices build on last year’s AI innovations, like Gemini Live and image-generation tools.
Gemini Live conversations are now reportedly five times longer than text chats, highlighting the AI’s growing engagement. Pixel 10’s new features include Visual Overlays, Magic Cue, Camera Coach, Voice Translate, Take a Message, and Pixel Journal.
Visual Overlays lets the AI guide users by seeing through the camera lens, and Magic Cue offers proactive suggestions within apps and the Daily Hub. Camera Coach helps with photography, Auto Best Take selects the best images, and Ask Photos enables AI editing.
Voice Translate translates calls in real time across 11 languages, and Take a Message transcribes voicemails while suggesting actions. Pixel Journal helps track progress and reflect on personal goals.
Other improvements include AI writing tools in Gboard, Pixel Studio screenshot updates, and Notebook LM integration with Recorder and screenshots. All features are powered by the new Tensor G5 processor and Gemini Nano model.
