Threads Tests Text Attachments to Share Longer Content

Meta confirmed that Threads is testing a long-form text feature, enabling users to attach blocks of text to posts rather than creating threads of multiple posts. The functionality is designed to make sharing ideas and thoughts more streamlined.

Spotted by app researcher Radu Oncescu, the new “text attachment” allows users to attach longer text and customize it with styling tools. Users can share book excerpts, news snippets, or detailed thoughts without relying on screenshots or multiple posts.

Threads users like Robert P. Nickson have already demonstrated the feature, showing how the text appears in a clickable gray box. While currently text-only, Threads may expand the feature to support images and videos, bringing it closer to X’s Articles feature, which is limited to Premium users.

The new feature aims to attract creators and writers looking for wider content distribution outside blogs or Substack newsletters. Threads continues to roll out new capabilities, including DMs, custom feeds, AI enhancements, and fediverse integration, as the platform surpasses 400 million monthly active users.
